Most “herbal teas” and “caffeine-free teas” are in fact not tea at all, since they typically do not contain any part of the Camellia Sinensis plant. Such herbal teas are in fact better called “tisanes,” which is a French word used for herbal infusions. Tisanes usually have a base of dehydrated fruits blended with dried flowers, herbs, and spices.

Because tisanes do not contain tea leaves, they are less sensitive to brew times and most will not become bitter with oversteeping. Although they are not technically “teas,” the ingredients still follow the same process of being chopped, dehydrated, and brewed in boiling water. And all tisanes, like tea, can be steeped in boiling water to create a refreshing beverage that (unlike tea) has absolutely no caffeine!

All tea bags have 15 servings of loose leaf tea.

Made in Alabama

Briar Patch Brew:
Velvety. Full-bodied. Serendipitous berrygeddon.

The name does it justice. The pain suffered to harvest this delightful tea only accentuates is specialness. Blackberries and elderberries taunt all comers to earn the right to taste their deliciousness. The Briar Patch welcomes hibiscus who decided to also invite lemongrass and sage to join an otherwise exclusive club. Seasonal berries (blackberries, blueberries, elderberries, and currants), their leaves, and lemony herbs blend together to make this incredibly juicy tisane.

To Brew: Steep at 212˚ for 7 minutes.

Golden Hour Tonic:
Burst of grapefruit. Smooth turmeric. Spicy ginger and sweet pineapple lingering finish.

The hour is here. There’s a moment: a fleeting, agonizingly short but sweet transitory moment. It sends the sun on its daily course. It also returns to punctuate the daily doldrums. The warm ginger coaxes the tongue awake, the grapefruit pulsates life into your senses, and gentle turmeric wraps around like a comforting pneumatic gust. This instant- a vision encapsulated, accentuated, is the Golden Hour Tonic.

To Brew: Steep at 195˚ for 10 minutes.

Healing Honeysuckle:
Clean. Warm. Sunshine.

A delicious tonic combining echinacea, oranges, jasmine, spices, lemongrass, and mint. The rooibos, tulsi (also known as holy basil), and ginger in this herbal brew contribute to its unique body.

To Brew: Steep at 212˚ for 7 minutes.

Orchard Peach:
Tropical. Floral. Vibrant.

Despite the sin of not actually having tea leaves, this ambrosial tisane does its penance in spades. Brought quite literally down to earth with the hibiscus flower and dried rose hips, the peaches, papaya and pineapple combine into a deep, nuanced flavor that is simple, healthful and deliciously hydrating.

To Brew: Steep at 212˚ for 7 minutes.

Piper Mint Blues:
Sweet mint. Sharp fruit overtones. Mellow finish.

Sparkling peppermint fronts the ensemble, directing the delicious chorus. Wintergreen and spearmint pierce through with crisp high-hat taps. Jamming out mellow bass notes are the smooth blueberries. The heart of this refreshing blues ballad is the vibrant, haunting solo of the butterfly pea flower.  Impossibly colorful, this floral crooner sings to your thirsty soul. Let’s welcome to the stage: Piper Mint Blues.

To Brew: Steep at 212˚ for 7 minutes.

Strawberry Shindig:

Sweet Dixie:

Summer needs a breeze. With a tropical flourish of pineapple and coconut, this chamomile with local apples, blueberries, and peaches provides more than enough relief from the torrid world of heat.

Sweetie Pie Chai: Candied sweet potato. Cinnamon. Creamy clove.

It’s a reunion. Sweet potatoes play host to this homecoming with family friend Tulsi. Ginger and Cloves, arrive early eager to liven things up. The vanilla and licorice both arrive fashionably late, the delay only making their sweetness more apparent. Subtle but affirming Tulsi contributes with smiles that encourages the others on in their merriment.

It invokes the tradition and love of being surrounded at family gatherings…as well as an invitation to indulge in warm, cozy corners with a good book.
